Critter Adoption and Rescue Effort (CARE) is a small no-kill animal shelter at 1528-27th St SE in Ruskin. We are a non-profit shelter with capacity for approximately 40 dogs and cats that we rescue, rehabilitate and adopt. We also operate a low cost spay-neuter clinic for the community. We accept volunteers who perform various duties including cleaning kennels and cattery, feeding animals, walking dogs, socializing cats, working in our office and performing general yard and building maintenance tasks. Our phone is 645-2273, and we are open to the public between 10 am and 3 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Contact person is Don Hinderliter, who may be reached at the shelter phone number. Tax deductible donations may be made in person or by mail. Animals available for adoption and other items of interest may be seen at our website www.careshelter.org.
