WHERE THE WILD ROSE GROWS

WHERE THE WILD ROSE GROWS cover

Cilla's conscious mind has long forgotten her true identity as Wild Rose, daughter of tribal healer John Elk and his mate Pretty Moon, but the Cherokee Guardians assigned to her at birth have never let her go.

Whether it's a feather dropped at her feet by an eagle, a mysterious healing, or a trip through a tunnel of magnificent light, Cilla is consistently given signs that lead her to the Path Great Spirit marked for her when she left the Blue Road of Sky.

Whether it's a feather dropped at her feet by an eagle, a mysterious healing, or a trip through a tunnel of magnificent light, Cilla is consistently given signs that lead her to the Path Great Spirit marked for her when she left the Blue Road of Sky.Consciously, she cannot know that the man she calls Uncle John is one of a band of thieves that kidnapped her from her parents' village, or that the woman she calls "Mama" isn't really related to her. Only through faith in the power of a spiritual world few Anglos know does she discover her true self; the genuine meaning of family, and finally, knowledge of the Adanedi--the gift--she carries in her heart.

"Penny Fletcher is a masterful storyteller. But, she is a dangerous writer, making the reader ignore that nagging voice crying for sleep; continuing to turn the pages and burn the midnight oil all the while knowing the morning would come too soon."

Joe Rice, Publisher BayTime Media Internet Service

FAITH, HOPE & PRAISE

Poetry to Lift Your Spirits

This is God's Country

You do not have to look too far
To see the lands that God has blessed.
Take our country for example -
God has given us His best.

The country now has many troubles,
    Problems seem to quickly mount.
But many blessings still do flow
            From God's eternal fount.

Even when we hunger, God reachers
    Out His helping hand.
While many others starve to death
            In some distant lands.

We still are free to vote and worship,
Drive a car and own a home,
       Or vacation at the beach,
Or through a forst freely roam.

I know that we hear cries for justice
    Ringing out more often now.
But I still love this country,
            And to everyone avow -

This country is still number one,
I love to see our waving flag.
       Compared to other countries, Friend,
We have it "in the bag."

In other countries it's a privilege
Just to buy a loaf of bread.
They make you labor at your job
Until you wish that you were dead.

If you complain about conditions,
    Your life will quickly end.
Think about this, then you tell me,
Just how bad you have it, Friend .

Little Dreamers

Pre Batteries Not Included.
Pre Each Figure Sold Separately.
Before every word, action and thought
was scrutinized with litigious intent,
there was the Sears Catalog.
Fort Apache being attacked,
in full-page, four-color fashion,
by (whisper with me) Indians.
In thirty minutes, three boys,
their bellies scuffing the living room floor,
could win the battle, save the fort
and protect the entire West.
All this before a single letter
was scribbled on a Christmas list.
All this before the page was flipped
to G.I.  Joe.
